All clients have an initial assessment where a decision is made on what the most appropriate treatment is for them. You will be given an opportunity to talk about your difficulties, and you will also find out more about the service.
If you would benefit from further counselling, they will arrange for you to see a counsellor on a regular basis. There is normally a waiting list. How long you have to wait will depend on your needs and availability. They can help you deal with any problems that are causing emotional distress. Many counsellors have specialist skills in areas including:
Anxiety
Bereavement
Depression
Family issues
Relationships
Abuse
They will make every effort to place you with a counsellor who is best equipped to deal with your problem.
The Cost:
The majority of counsellors working at MIND do so on a voluntary basis. A contribution is requested towards MIND’S administrative costs.

Group Therapy
Free Hoarding Project
Mind has been funded by Croydon Council to run a hoarding prevention project.
The purpose of the project is to provide free group counselling sessions to participants in order to help them examine why they collect items that clutter the home and what would it be like to consider letting some of these go.
As part of the project, if participants feel comfortable to do so, they will be introduced to De-Clutter Buddies who will come to your home on invitation and look at what could be done to support you in this decluttering. This offer is for an hour a week. If a client would prefer they can meet the De-Clutter Buddy outside of their home to start with.
This is not a requirement of being in the group, but simply an opportunity in addition to the counselling.
How would this happen?
The sessions will be held in the evenings at the MIND in Croydon offices at Fairfield House, 10 Altyre Road, Croydon, CR0 5LA. This is very close to East Croydon Train Station and convenient for tram, bus or train travel. The group will be held fortnightly on a Thursday from 6.30pm to 8pm and there will be six sessions in total.
