The Reablement Service is an alternative to care co-ordination, working with people for a period of 6-12 weeks, with a view to developing lasting resilience and removing or reducing the individual’s dependence on mental health services.
This service does not include prescription of medication and therefore requires that a GP is managing medication prior to commencing. The service works with people for 6 to 12 weeks to look at areas of life that they would like to improve, set some goals to work towards and support them to achieve these goals.
They offer 2 initial sessions to help identify goals and then meet weekly to work towards them. They encourage the involvement of friends, family and partners and also offer a separate forum for them four times a year.
